Novice: Able to stop smoothly and safely, able to ride for periods of at least 30 minutes on flat terrain

Intermediate: Above skills, plus able to ride for periods of 1 hour or more, able to ride up and down hills

Intermediate Plus: Above skills, plus able to ride for periods of 2-3 hours, able to ride up and down hills using a geared bicycle

Mountain Biking Skills *

None: My child does not have experience riding off of pavement

Novice: Able to safely ride a bike on terrain other than pavement (dirt, gravel, mud), able to balance, steer and stop with precision, able to ride for periods of at least 30 minutes on bumpy terrain

Intermediate: Above skills, plus able to ride up and down hills and over bumpy terrain for periods of 1 hour or more

Intermediate Plus: Above skills, plus able to ride up and down hills and over bumpy terrain for periods of 2-3 hours
